MODES and WORKSPACES

Versions 12 and X3 has the ability for customised workspace modes, choose your own personal settings or Full Edit providing you have all tools available for this tutorial.

Version 11 has five work modes.  You will see them listed in the My Workshop Menu.  For the purpose of this tutorial, ensure you are working in "Advanced Mode" in order for all tools to be available to you.

Version 10 has two work modes, Basic and Standard. Basic Mode features a simplified workspace with larger buttons and the most common functions, whereas, the Standard Mode displays all of the functions.  We will be using the Standard Mode in this tutorial. If you see Standard Mode faded out as shown, then this is the mode you are using.  If you change from standard to basic you will lose any presets you may have saved.

Remember to save often

Please read through the entire tutorial before starting.

 Instructions

1.  Open a canvas 500 x 300 pixels and choose dark green  #2F6868

2.

Select the Text tool from the Tool box and from the Tool Settings under Style change the Character Spacing to 6.

3.  With the Text tool active, select Tiranti Solid LET font size 96, bold and italics, type your name, then duplicate.
4.  Select the first name you typed and with the Text tool activated choose 3D Custom from the Attribute bar.  Open the Easy Palette, Text/Path Effects, Material Attribute, Texture - Water.  Add to the text.
5. With the second text and the Text tool activated choose 3D Pipe.  Next, go to the Tool settings - Text under 3D, Width and move the slider down to 2.  Add texture as stated in step 4.
6. Menu bar, Object, Select All Objects,  Align, Centre both.  You can also use the icon on the Attribute bar to Centre both, however you must be using the Pick Tool to use this feature.   Check and make sure that the 3D Pipe text is on top of the 3D Custom.  Right click, Select All, Merge as a Single Object.
7. Let's change the colour of the text.  Go to the Menu bar, Adjust, Colour Adjustment.  Move the Cyan/Red slider to the left -79,  Magenta/Green slider to the right 23, and the Blue/Yello slider leave at 0.  Right click and Add Shadow - 5th one along.  Right click, Merge All.
8. With the crop tool, crop the image   You can also resize at this stage too if you feel that the text image is too large.  Resize by going to the Menu bar, Adjust, Resize.
9. Open the Easy Palette, Image Enhancement, Animation, Animation Studio, Droplet and make the following changes to the settings as shown in the image below.

Amount 4,  Light 20,  Warp 150,  Thickness 45,  Size 15,  Frames 22

10. On the animation window where you see your name, if you click in the top left corner a cross shows where a droplet forms, as you move the mouse over it the cursor will change in order for you to move this as you see in the images below where I've moved them too.  You also do the same.

11. Now click on the looping button click the Play arrow and your signature will have animated droplet pools.
12. Save your image as an animated.gif.  When the save dialogue box opens, under GIF animation options reduce the Colours to 128 with infinite loop box ticked.  Reducing the colours helps keep the file size smaller.

To view your animation, go to the folder where it is saved, right click and view  -  choose whatever program you have on your computer to view images.  Animated images cannot be opened in PhotoImpact.
